Abstract

In the modern world, much attention is paid to migration issues. Many people leave their homeland searching for a better life. Various processes associated with migration and migrants require a more detailed study to obtain the general picture of the modern world. Field studies in Soligalich and Chukhloma, Kostroma region, were carried out as a part of the "Migration processes and their impact on the socio-economic development of Central Russia: a comparative analysis of the province and megalopolis (the example of the Kostroma region and Moscow)" project (Russian Foundation for the Basic Research). The study sheds light on the migration situation in remote areas of the Kostroma region, namely in Soligalichsky and Chukhlomskoy districts. Such field studies are conducted in these areas for the first time, and therefore their results are of particular value. The work reveals the attitude of the region's population to labor migrants and, in general, to the migration processes in the country.
