Abstract

The article is devoted to the old believer monasteries in Romania in the XIX – early XXI century. The types of monasteries, purposes and reasons for leaving in monasteries are considered and the characteristic of the brethren is given, the material and spiritual sides of everyday monastery life are shown, as well as the importance and role of monasteries in the old believer community, the changes that occurred in their life in the modern era in the conditions of continuing secularization of religious consciousness of the old believers of Romania
