Abstract

Orthodox anthropology has a rich potential for the development of modern social and humanitarian knowledge as a theological discipline. The study of the spiritual essence of man in his communion with God within the framework of religious tradition is one of the most challenging subjects of study in modern science.  Nevertheless, despite the fact that theology is officially recognized as a scientific specialty in our country, its heuristic status is the subject of debate. The study of the potential of modern Orthodox anthropology in solving urgent problems of social and humanitarian knowledge showed that it can contribute to solving a wide range of such problems: environmental issues, the development of economic theories and social management, legal issues, ethical problems in medicine, technical sciences, problems of spiritual upbringing and education, and more. The search for alternative solutions to many pressing problems of modern society involves the development of new branches and areas of anthropological knowledge, among which Orthodox anthropology occupies a special place.
