Reviewing policies
All articles received by the editorial board of the journal “Herald of Anthropology” (“Vestnik antropologii”), should take compulsory scientific expertise. In order to ensure the quality of published materials and to enforce copyright, all submitted articles are checked through the Antiplagiat system and only after that are sent for review. The accepted amount of citations (properly indicated) is no more than 25% of the total volume of the article. Reviews and other articles that objectively require a larger number of citations, are considered separately by the editors. The editorial board also determines is article profiled to the journal`s thematic and the requirements for registration, and then send it for review to the specialist closest to the topic.
All thematically relevant articles submitted to the journal are subject to double blind peer review. For each article should be received two positive reviews. The articles are reviewed by invited reviewers - leading experts in the relevant field of knowledge in Russia and other countries. All reviewers are recognized experts on the subject of the peer-reviewed materials and have published papers on the subject over the past 3 years. The decision on choosing an expert for reviewing an article is made by the Editor-in-chief. The review period is 4 weeks, but it can be extended taking into account different circumstances (the formation of the current issue of the journal, the formation of the total journal store, etc.) and at the request of the reviewer. All reviewers are recognized experts on the subject of the peer-reviewed materials and have published papers on the subject over the past 3 years. The decision on choosing an expert for reviewing an article is made by the Editor-in-chief. The review period is 4-8 weeks, but it can be extended taking into account different circumstances (the formation of the current issue of the journal, the formation of the total journal store, etc.) and at the request of the reviewer.
The review should contain following issues:
- correspondence of the manuscript content to the stated topic; reflection of the content in its title;
- scientific novelty;
- compliance of the content with the scientific level in the relevant field of science;
- theoretical value;
- applied value;
- the representativeness of the original sources;
- methodological newness;
- validity of conclusions;
- the correctness of the literary style, professional terminology and scientific apparatus;
- the correctness of the use of publications.
Based on the results of considering the manuscript, the reviewer gives a reasoned conclusion about the possibility or impossibility of publishing the article. The reviews are kept in the editorial office for 5 years. The editorial office sends to the authors copies of reviews with notification of acceptance, rejection or need to finalize the article, and undertakes to send copies of reviews to The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation if such a request is received by the editorial office. Editor and Editorial board makes final decision on publication.
The editors are not responsible for the accuracy of information and the correctness of citation in the articles. The editorial board reserves the right to make editorial changes to the submitted materials, to condense them, to reject thematically inappropriate or not properly formatted manuscripts, strictly following the rules of editorial ethics.
Manuscripts rejected by the editors are not reviewed or returned. There is no fee for reviewing articles. The views of the authors of our publications do not necessarily coincide with those of the editors. Reprinting of materials published in the journal is not allowed without the written permission of the editors.
Copyright
Once agreed to publish his/her paper in the journal, the author (unconditionally reserving the copyright) grants to the journal the right of first publication based on the Creative Commons Attribution License which allows using his/her paper by others provided there is a reference made to the author of the original text and to the original journal publication.
Open Access policy:
Based on the fundamental principle of the freedom of information exchange, the articles of the journal are placed in the public domain on the website of the “Herald of Anthropology” journal located on the journal platform of the RAS Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology and in the scientific digital library eLIBRARY.RU in order to expand the communicative field and increase knowledge, as well as develop dialogue and exchange of views among the scientific community and expansion of the sphere of civil society.
