Abstract

The article discusses the practices of cultural-ethnic mediation in the sphere of health care of Italy. To achieve optimal results in intercultural communication, this country developed a set of actions to train experts in cultural and medical anthropology (including in the frameworks of medical schools' programs), as well as to create special structural units in clinical institutions, where cultural-ethnic mediators have worked successfully in the last 20 years. The article reviews problems related to development of the new profession, aspects of its normative regulation, as well as developmental prospects for practices of cultural-ethnic mediation in the conditions of increasing flows of migrants and formation of a multicultural society in Italy at the turn of XXI century.
