COVID-19: a New Topic for Medical Anthropology

Abstract

The article examines the situation in Russia and in the world that resulted from the COVID-19 epidemic, which started in China in December 2019-January 2020 and on March 11 was declared a pandemic by the WHO. The text points out its major events and the reactions from administrative and lawmaking organs, as well as the society. Main research directions are characterized briefly, as well as the specifics of field work and studies by medical anthropologists and other researchers cooperating with them in a single cross-disciplinary field.
