PASTORAL COUNSELING OF DRUG ADDICTS: PROFESSION AND VALUES

Abstract

The author of the article addresses the subject of professional career of counselors of drug addicts, analyzing how they come to this sphere of human activity, which resources they use to help. The article presents data on drug addicts’ pastoral counseling, collected in the process of author’s interviews with Russian and foreign specialists (priest and laics). The professional values of drug addicts’ counselors are considered: first, personal communication values of counselors which help to build conditions for effective interaction with a client; second, general views of counselors on human personality.
