Abstract

This article deals with problems of genesis, evolution and prospects of official medicine in Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It looks into the problems it encounters at present, analyzes both its positives points and drawbacks. The article discusses significance of official medicine for Pakistani society, relations between state-governed and private practices, levels of education of medical personal. It also touches on the question of why alternative methods of treatment are still in active use.
