Abstract

Within the interview professor Gaines describes his academic journey throughout the studies of medical anthropology and bioethics, its main milestones and speculates over the subject and object of these disciplines. He gets more into detail, analyzing the state of art and the perspectives of biomedicine and bioethics in the USA, focusing in particular on double blind clinical trials, distributive justice and psychiatry.
