Abstract

Interview with O.M. Fishman by S.S. Petriashin is dedicated to her professional biography, which has been associated with the Russian Museum of Ethnography for 40 years. The interview opens with discussion of the impact of family and university education on becoming an ethnographer. Further, the topics of organization of Finno-­Ugric and Sjögrenian readings in St. Petersburg, fieldwork in Latvia and the museum exhibition projects are revealed. In the final part, Fishman talks about the experience of expeditionary work among the Tver Karelians and evaluate the late Soviet ethnography — its problems and achievements.
