«People of the Depths» in Late Soviet Moscow. Interview with Valentin Vladimirovich Kuklev

A biographical interview with the Moscow writer Valentin Vladimirovich Kuklev (born in 1948) makes it possible to better imagine the complex panorama of unofficial culture and the «esoteric scene» in the late Soviet society. Among its particular topics are the features of the circulation of various texts of anthropological subjects, the activities of key figures of this scene, the author’s concept of the «third culture» and the interpretation of various events from the point of view of a person belonging to the «third culture». Information about the activities of such important for the intellectual community of this period as VNIITE and the Electronic Music Studio at the Scriabin Museum are revealed. The immediate reason for the interview was the release of V. Kuklev’s book «People of the Crevasses» (People in the Depths)» (M., 2020).
